Hey all,

over the last 2 weeks Ive noticed my car (01 sei 1242 mpi) wont always start 1st time around but always does 2nd time. The car can be hot or cold when this is occuring.

This is what happens:

1. I turn the ignition on and can hear the fuel pump pressurising the pipes
2. Car starts trurns over and is fine for half a second
3. Engine cuts out

Any ideas of what my problem might be?

Ill also add that my altinator belt has been slipping recently and I have a new one ready to replace it. could this be my problem?

Does any1 have any ideas at all? Id also like to add that I did spill some oil on the starter motor but that was about 2months ago.

i would imagine that would mean the engine would cut out or run on 3 or less cylinders at any time not just startup tho?
