As you may have guessed from the title this is regarding my sei's flatspot.

It's been mentioned in older threads, but I never bothered to do anything about it before now.

It's nothing major, but it is noticeable - mainly when doing exactly 60mph in 5th.

Currently I only have a few things left to check out on the car -

*She possibly needs a new water pump
*Need to check coil packs (not too sure how to do this - presume it's a case of run engine with 1 lead unplugged at a time?)

I thought the Mpi's weren't supposed to have a flat spot - and while, like I say it's no major issue, It's actually flatter at 60 in 5th, than my old spi 899 was at 60 in 4th!

All other speeds in other gears seem to be ok...
...very puzzling

It can make a difference because when driving in 5th you will be on a different load at the same rpm than in other gears.

It either is a mapping issue and/or faulty or wearing part.

Had thought about that - tbh, I don't think the car has ever done anything beyond 40mph before I got it, I think it's had a hard town life.

Most parts have been replaced or upgraded, and it's getting to be a tired story really - gonna get her into my mechanic for a full check over closer to summer when I get the water pump swopped out.

Might try a different ecu once I've check out the coils...

If you have a 4AF ECU and can get it uncoded, you can try mine to see if it helps. It may be normal on your car though...how bad is it? Have you compared it to other mpi sei's?

Kristian

noticeable, but tolerable. Only becomes an issue if you get stuck doing 60, ie country lanes or slow motorway...

Not compared it to other mpi (or even spi) sei's.
