Technical revs not going past 3.5k and judder

was on my way to sales at meadowhall today.. and when i got on the motorway i noticed when you put foot down.. not only did revs climb quite slowly, but when i got to 3.5k-4k it wouldnt go any higher, and the car juddered, and made a weird noise.. like someone had put a limiter on the car.. when we got meadowhall had a gander under bonnet, and noticed there was no oil

so after shopping went garage and got some... filled her up and thought that might fix it... well it didnt.

any thoughts?

id disconnect the battery over night and reconnect, sounds like its running in limp/safe get you home mode.

and it had no oil? sounds like poor things been abused, it even got any coolant in it? or dont you know what that is

If you're lucky, it could be just a sensor fault. Try the above. Did the code light come on?

i not driven her for ages.. i had the bravo to get me around till that broke!

and yes it got coolant in.

already disconnected ECU

and nope, no lights, no nothing, drives perfectly fine other than the lack of getting above 3.5ishk

My best guesses -- jumped timing belt or foobared MAP sensor. As checking the first won't cost you owt, I'd try that first.

map sensor has gone, black thing thats near the ECU with a rubber pipe and a 3pin connector going in it

got two MAP sensors from scrappy, neither of which made it any better

yeah, it runs perfectly fine, other than lack of going above 3.5k revs

Either dodgy coil or the main perp is usually the lambda, the low revs stops you wasting the cat.

Sensor that runs into the exhaust, erm, you'd need a big spanner, IIRC it's a 22 or 23mm you'd need to jack the car up to get at it.

New sensors can be expensive, universal cheap sensors need a wired into the old 4 wire plug.

i bought my first Haynes manual today... and my god i didnt know what i was missing

what year is your seicento, i cant find a haynes for my car !!! apparently according to halfords there is no haynes for my car, never was !!! i was like wtf no haynes i want one! outrageous where did u get yours?

It's 22mm and you definately don't need to jack the car up to get at the sensor.

You could try cleaning the crank sensor as well to see if that makes an improvement.
