Hello all,
Just here to pick your brains, the last few weeks when starting her up (not every morning) my 1.1 Sporting (S reg) has been making a high pitched noise that sounds like brakes binding but this is when I just switch her on. It last for a couple of minutes max after setting off then disappears. I've got her booked in for a brakes check but I don't see HOW the brakes the could be making the noise if she isn't moving etc.

I replaced filters a couple of months ago and she passed her MOT no probs shortly after.

The noise is definately up front to the right (drivers side).

Any ideas? She drives like normal :)slayer:) but I know she hates the wet weather (who doesn't?).

Check out the alternator belt, alternator & the timing belt plus all the pullys. My first guess would be the alt belt is slipping and needs retensioning or changing.

I thought it could be something like that as I hadn't got that far in terms of replacing belts... thanks for the push in the right direction(y)

Spent the morning having a poke round - oil filter a bit loose so was leaking tiny tiny drips of foil onto the pullys and belt. That's why it only screamed for a couple of minutes til the oil burnt off. Will give a her a good blast over the next couple of days and check again but hopefully it should be sorted:D

Belts actually in good nick:cool:

Thank you gentlemen
