Im thinking of madness in prep for York drag.........Nitrous!:D

This is poss plus 12" wheels!
Yes It'll fly, the spoiler will be functional!

Slight thing im thinking is:

Usual procedure for N2O is to slightly advance \ retard \ fettle the ignition so it ignites correctly. Somehow, Im thinking the Marelli unit wont like this too much!

Also, I understand from prev posts that the MAP sensor doesnt like +ve pressure. Logically a squirt of N2O would give +ve pressure? Am I wrong??

1242cc Engine to go in soon, boot delock soon, K+N still in garage!

Hmm.. I was only thinking 25BHp, much more would cause probs.

Apparently an engine should happily take 40% increase in power with extra fuelling of course.

Im just confused about how or if the ignition or MAP would be affected

Arse...

My nitrous kit is running a 30 bhp (approx) increase and is being used as a "dry" kit. It copes pretty well with it as the ECU see's extra oxygen at the lambda and compensates by providing extra fuel at the injector so the mixture is not weak/rich. It's a safe setup and will run without any problems as a dry kit on fuel injected cars. I have my kit or sale if you're interested for £200 and includes a fuel solenoid to convert the kit to "wet" use if needed.

Ignition timing doesn't have to be touched unless you're running anything more than 50bhp extra. Colder spark plugs are ideal but not needed until you start putting out more than 50bhp like above.

The MAP sensor can take the nitrous shot and does not pressurise the intake like a turbo, i'm running a vacuum gauge in mine too and the needle doesn't go any more than 0in/mg, any further would be positive boost which you won't get unless you are running a turbo.

All in all, Fitting Nitrous is no problem at all as long as you stay below 50bhp increase otherwise ignition timing requires ECU mods to run safely with over 50.
