exhaust quest

i lately was going over a hump and i hit the exhaust pipe... I had a straghit pipe instead of backbox and now it got off the middle section, ie the exhaust is only upto the middle section..I have a loud noise know but kinda liking it...Does that sacrifice any performance/torque?

Re: exhaust quest

If you are saying the exhaust is damaged/missing a section, yes perfromance will be effected as well as mpg and other things

Re: exhaust quest

hey, what I mean is that, according to the attached pic, from the part which is labeled 287-149 up to the backbox, is removed completely. Its not damaged just need to weld it back in place... but u mean i am currently having loss of power and bad mpg? cause the sound is awesome hihi

Re: exhaust quest

well if you can live with the poor performance then keep it as it is but as you will relaise it will be shortlived, as you wont pass an MOT emissions test, or will get pulled because of sound levels or the fact there is no backbox there

Re: exhaust quest

Correct me if i'm wrong but does this not mean your exhaust is blowing hot gasses straight at your fuel tank, doesn't sound like a good idea to me.. iirc didn't arc damage his exhaust once and it ended up setting fire to the bumper.? They'll be hot is what i'm getting at and doesn't sound safe nevermind loos of performance..
