Hi There

Driving the mother inlaws cinq yesterday as she was moaning it smelt funny and was down on power.

So in i jump and thinking to myself this is quite nippy for a standard cinq, after driving for about 5 minutes i was going to turn around to go home and i seemed to lose power, but no that was not the problem.

My front brakes are binding badly, by the time i got home smoke was pouring from the front of the car and the disks were glowing red.

Please help are the calipers knackered or is there another sort of problem.

Any help is muchly appreciated.

Sounds like the brakes need a good service.
Remove and clean the calipers and make shure everything that should move, does. Change the brake fluid while your at it.

brake pads? Check them while you're in there. Check the discs for scoring as well.

have they had work done recently?

It had new disks and pads about 3/4 months ago, but all was fine after that.

biunding ... is that Scottish??!!


Your disc is probably warped if it was glowing red, and pads are toast, as it the fluid near that caliper.

I'd remove and service or replace the calipers, new discs/pads, and then new fluid..pretty much as mentioned above.

Change the flexis too. They can break up inside and act like non return valves.
