Finally worked out how to do a single wiper conversion without needing an Uno motor assembly.
What you do need however is a second cinq centre spindle.
Method
Grind the bottom off the spindle so that the spindle can be tapped out of the arm.
Cut the small ball (painful) off the arm. I cut the arm rather than trying the hardened steel ball.
Drill another hole immediately inboard of the original hole.
Form the arm to match the arm currently attached to your wiper motor, basically invert the bends.
It may help to grind the end opposite the ball to ensure it too misses the mounting screws.
Replace arm on wiper motor with your newly fabricated arm. The extra throw allows the existing centre spindle to travel further.
DO NOT be tempted to use the existing hole in the replacement spindle, the throw is too great and it will foul on the mountings.
Remove drivers side spindle and arm, fit grommet in hole.
