hey ppl, new one here, gaz will kno me from www.my-sei.com anyways q time, was readin the post about the switches on the dash and was wonderin if there was any easy way of changin the dial illumination colour as well?

Thing is, the green illumination is from green paint over white on the legends (i.e numbers and speed marks etc.) so putting red on without managing to take the green off might make for an interesting result - mixing red + green= ? (Brain no workey today, tired & ill - someone remind me what red + green gives..)

red+green is brown, but isnt the dsah in a sei orange? so red bulbs would give a different, redish orange

Cinq Sporting - and yes, its broom yellow!

or painstakingly scratch off all the green to the exact shape of each individual number, letter and symbol.:D:D:D:D i have a spare set of dial that i was going to try doing it to but gave up when i did the dash sliders.:D

LRD, yu did the Heater Ctrls...notice how they become v. hard to see during the day?

This dash light idea got me thinking...so I photographed my dials earlier, played with them in Photoshop and printed them onto copier paper.

Sorted the back lighting- i just coloured some OHP film on both with permanent pens, and stuck it v. carefully to the back of the dial paper.

Then I ripped my dash out...Proceeded to put the new faces in, guess what, Id photographed at an angle, so my measurements were skew!! Ive got the whole process sorted now, cept for the act that now I need to go and scan the dial faces in flat!

But the basics are all there...Im hoping to get it ready for Stanford!

AofB.. where'd you get the coloured film from? I've been looking but cant get it anywhere.. Was looking for some for my clock too.

Its not coloured film at all.. I was having probs getting it so improvised.

Get some OHP transparency film, and some Permanent pens (OHP Pens ideal)...colour the film in to fill in where needed. do on both sides of the film (going the opposite stroke on one side to the other - to get a good finish).

Oh another thing, tested the tacho (the only one that was a good fit) and its too semitransparent- yu can see where its been coloured thru. Ive now been crafty and decided to do it again. I printed the face twice - one a mirror image of the other and stuck it back to back. then did as before..the colour's a bit muted but very sexy!!

--2nd tacho face is now in, damn sexy too!!

Seen as this is going so well, I may well do an FAQ with piccys once I do the other two faces!!

Someone PM me on Sunday- Im never going to remember!!
