hi there, hopefully someone can help, I was wondering what should my MPG be now that the engine change is done roughly?

specs are:

1242 8v, P75 cam, Tricker 40mm TB, BMC CDA induction, Mckcrich chip, Supersprint 4-2-1 manifold, Supersprint backbox, De-cat and no centre silencer.

How loud is that exhaust system?? i dont know what to do about the mid-box,wether to keep it or wave goodby to it

With the following i was getting 33mpg out-right thrashing. 50 mpg driving like a granny.

By thrashing i mean into the red in 2nd to 4th.

1242cc 8v SPI, GSR test induction, 30mm throttle body, ported and flowed head, skimmed to factory rec. max. level, metal head gasket, Supersprint back, box and spacer. Otherwise standard sporting incl. cat.

Running on Tesco 99 between 47 and 51mpg before mapping (76bhp) and after mapping (80bhp) about 2mpg down.

Right put £10 in the car and have done 50 miles and the light is on and the needle is right down on the first notch up, i would say i'm using WAY too much fuel here

your having running and possible fuelling issues at the top end as well are you not?

yea i think so at least, really need someone who is experienced with 1242 cinqs to give me a hand, cos i think it's running rough too

have you tried fresh plugs and leads.

yea, brand new leads and plugs bangs and pops might be good, but 25mpg isn't lol

Remember that the fuel light is a bit iffy. Better to fill the tank to the brim, drive for 50 miles then top it back to the brim again. If it takes a tenner, ok its 25 mpg, but it might not take a tenner.

can't fill it to the brim petrol comes out of the fuel cap when i first put a tenner in have searched about it and guess it's a blocked breather hose from what I have read? Need to take a look for it and see if it's blocked, also when the fuel cap is taken off, should there be like a spring return cap underneath which is pushed out of the way when the petrol pump snout goes in, and then snaps back when you pull the snout out?

Also, just back from the mrs house, clutch making a bit of a rattle until it is depressed, need to do a slight adjustment on it tomorrow.

You'll find its easier to calculate your MPG if you put a fixed amount of fuel in, say 15 litres, rather than a fixed amount in terms of cash. This then prevents any slight variations in price from different suppliers, or different grades of fuel from affecting the results.

Just my 2p worth.

Lenny will try catch you on msn, but if you're out banbury way again anytime soon i'd take a look for you if wanted? though pretty busy most weekends atm (and not really got any spare sensors to try as gave away my last spare map sensor not long ago )

your not having much luck with this conversion are you

nope something wrong with the gearbox too making a winding/groaning sound when coming up to a junction/roundabout etc.
