Hi guys,

About 6 months ago i invested in some Powerflex rear bushes, and finnally got my mechanic to fit them the other day, which he said were a nightmare and now im out of pocket 350 quid!

anyway i asked him to fluch the oil and water, he did the oil, but said there was loads of rust around the bottom hose and that if he saws it off i'll probably need a new hose.

now i dont get how a rubber hose can rust, but after having a lillte peek i see that the hoe is connected to a metal pipe, which sure enough is rusty.

can this rusty pipe be replaced for a new one? surely it can just be part of the rad because new one was fitted a couple year ago, alluminium one

any help would be appreciated,

Alex

£350!!!!! Just for the fitting....omg! Thats extortionate, first thing I would do is ditch your mechanic and get another.

Can you post a picture of the rusty rad? On mine, the hose connections are actaully plastic, but if yours are metal, they may have rusted, and only the channels could be alloy. Either way, rust won't really bond to rubber. Take the clamp off, twist hard, and hopefully the hose will come off without breaking the rad. Then just replace the coolant.

My last bit of advice, check the guides and FAQ's and get stuck in yourself. Granted changing the bushes is not a beginers job, but oil is a 10 min job, that anyone can do anywhere, even on a busy street.
