My radiator fan's gone. The garage (a FIAT dealer) says the part itself is £117, which is quite over the top for just a fan... what do you think?

Anyone trying to get rid of theirs anyway? :)

Trying to get it off ebay, there are a few breakers breaking seicentos. Mine is a 2002 MPI SX Seicento, do they have a different fan as compared to the previous seicentos? Are they compatible? I can see in shop4parts one for MPI and another for SPI, the MPI one is pretty much the same price the garage said...

the cinq uses the same part, and comes up for half that.

mick from http://www.frogbitz.com/ is your best place if u want to buy a new one.

or could keep an eye for someone breaking a cinq or sei.

(i'm assuming SPI sei/cinq here - they're all the same, unsure on the MPI ones)

From ePER it looks like the Sei MPI fan is one unit inc the fan shoud.
The SPI fan is seperate from its shroud.

So you probably could use an SPI fan, but you would need the shroud to go with it.

Just rang the garage to find out if they could fit the motor on the existing shrouds and they said no lol they will fit the whole thing very cheap since they missed this problem on other repairs on the front panel, so I won't go to another garage...

Shame I am not v good at mechanical stuff :(

Mmm I can't seem to be able to get to it from the top of the car... do I need to work from the bottom? The front panel pretty much disables me to do anything on it :)

Cheers guys, you're being extremely helpful.

Mmm I don't see how I can get to the fan from the top:

There's hardly no space to insert hands (to the left, where that thingy with the aspect of a foil tray behind the bonnet catch is)...

Unless I am grossly mistaken... the radiator is on the left (on that picture), on the right if anything is the air conditioning radiator, right?

To do it the easy way, get the front bumper off and then you have all the space you need. It is only held on by 6 bolts.

Two onto the front panel where the bonnet comes down, one on each corner under the front bumper and one on each side from the lower wing arms and the bumper comes off.

All you need is a 8mm and 13mm spanner.

8mm spanner being used to remove the inner wheel arch.

Cheers NIck

The seicento MPI fan can have the three rivets drilled out and replaced with a punto fan with part No: 855174 from a scrappy. Use thread lock on the threads or nylock nuts.
Undo two bolts near the bonnet catch to drop the rad down to get better access to the screws holding the fan cowl on.

Excellent!! Looks way more feasible now :) I've got the workshop manual, however I am in doubt whether I need to remove the wings to get the bumper off. Also, do I need to remove the front panel as well?

you shouldnt need to remove the wings, or front panel, no. i've never worked on an MPI sei - but can't see any reason why you would. the bumper shuold be be held on by approx 4 bolts.

Yup, I would expect the fittings for bumpers and wings to be the same on any seicento, however the workshop manual diagram doesn't make it clear :)
