Picked up the 1242 mpi today from scottc1088 (top bloke, Old man has a lovely couple of Jap motors on the driveway) today. Fifty odd mile drive back from Chesterfield back to Grantham. Car definately needs RR'ing as it is running rich and there is the occasional stutter under boost.

First impressions of driving.

1. My driving style needs to change to get used to being back in a turbo care.

2. Incredibly good driving around town at 30-40. Very easy to drive.

3. Always feels like a dog straining at the leash. (Hope that makes some sense)

4. Not easy on the motorway, at 70 even the lightest touch of pedal and the turbo is spooling. Not sure if this is something i will get used of, or if it is something that can be adjusted.

5. Standard brakes are sooo not upo the job, am in the process of sourcing some Gt calipers

6. When giving it the beans these turboed little italians are absolute flying machines. Had some very interesting wee dablles on the way back and the looks on peoples faces is awesome.

If anyone knows a good RR they can recommend in the east midlands to help get the setup spot on please let me know. Anyone else with a turboed Cinque have any advice at all about owning or running one please let me know. Anyone thinking of going the turbo route, do it. Lots of smile per mile.

Yeah and very difficult to keep off boost even when doing 70 (n)

But other than that they are awesome get the GT brakes on the front and some UT rears and even better fun to be had :)

Excellent, thanks peeps. I grew up just up the road from Kimbolton in a little village called Perry. (Bit random sorry)

the motorway 'thing' is the way mine was.very hard to just eek a little increase in speed without it kicking all the horses.

Used to be exactly the same on my Lancia Y10 Turbo, very difficult to keep it off boost. Was however very handy to quickly dispatch of tailgater's though.

it was number 4 which i read and there is could of folk who have the problem found it

Can i just ask do any of you cento turbo owners have a 40mm throttle body on your cars?
Im using the standard p75
thank you Zak

Bigger than a 40mm! Wow thats gonna have a sensitive throttle response.
Does it need it though? Correct me if im wrong but a 40mm throttle can flow around 150cfm so on a n/a car with a 40mm throttle you wont really get more than 100bhp? But its all different on a forced induction set up.
How easy will a cento be to drive with a huge tb. What do i know eh

My opinion on your tub with a larger tb would be, say half throttle wont be much different to full but then it all depends on th inlet as well as the state of tune on the head good lucky mate.
So far with 1bar of boost from my garrett t2 which will be flowing some more air than the gt15 i aint had any problems with the throttle being restrictive. Car Stood still I find it hard to hold revs at 2k rpm just goes higher lol
