After putting it off for ages I have finally done my 0-60 and quarter mile times and I liked the results.

I used the ProScan drag strip program, which works over my ODB2 reader, taking the speed results direct from the ECU and car sensors.

All 3 runs were done on totally flat land that was a typical texture road surface.

The software starts logging as soon as the car moves, so theres no timing error.

For all three runs I dropped the clutch at about 4,000 rpm. Cue rubber smells, clutch smells and a quick take off as grip and clutch regain control almost straight away, and then control the torque steer.

Is this an accurate way to measure things? I think it must be.

Anyway, of the three results, the second is the best :slayer:

Seems nice a quick to me :D

That sounds about right compared to what my Sei does in comparison with various Audis and BMWs in the low-speed range. (y)

Does yours have OBD port on it? It would be interesting for a comparison.

I'll get it on a power run after I've build and mapped the new ECU, and I'm hoping then for at least 0.5-1 sec improvement...no justification for this, but as its still the unmapped 1.1 8v ecu at the moment, there MUST be more in there :D

Certainly seeing the figures makes the whole thing worth while!

I may try and do a few more on a cold morning sometime :)

1.2 16V, supersprint 4-1 manifold, 2" powerflow exhaust, decat, BMC CDA air filter, Iridium plugs, magnecore leads, lightened flywheel, sports clutch, redex in the fuel, can't think what else at the mo lol.

I have larger wheels that standard 185/50/14 (5% larger), which adjust the speeds out of my favor, in reality, it prob makes the speed more realistic, rather than over-reading like they do as standard. Cruising on the flat at 70, and it tallies with my GPS.

I'd imagine wheel spin will only make my speed slower, and there was very little spin anyway, so I think it would have negligible effect.

Cheers,

Kristian

With a bit under 95bhp and 90lbft of torque going from the A10/M11 junction from Cambridge to the Southbound M11 a friend in a '00 Audi A4 1.8T behind and until I hit 3rd I have the advantage, and till the end of 3rd it's about even. That's a 0-62 8.1s car, that guy is constantly impressed with the amount of performance the Sei' has. I'd imagine what I gain in cam & mapping Kristian gains in having a 10bhp 'faster' engine to start with.

Cam and head work was out of budget and still is at the moment. A pair of cams isn't cheap, but it is on the cards for the future. I may see if i can source a new head cheap, and have a biy porting session lol.

I intend to get the TB made larger when i have some spare cash, I have a spare ready and waiting to go, but just need funds.

Indeed, I have the advantage over the 1.2 8V's in mine is over 80bhp to start, but once I've got cams, head work and mapping, it's going to be interesting the power i get out of it :D Thats noot going to be done for a while though.

would the 1.6 out of the old punto not fit in 1? or maybe the gt turbo engine? youre talking a very very fast car then lol

There was VERY little spinning, and yes, that would affect the 1/4 mile as it will register distance travelled that wasn't.

For the 0-60 it wouldn't make a difference, unless i was spinning in 3rd/4th at 60 which i know it wasn't. Its just a time vs speed measurement that won't be affected by a bit of spin.

I too am not 100% on the times, hence one reason I posted.

Are there any other ways to measure 0-60 without going to a drag strip or power run?

The 1.6 is huge and despite being 400cc larger only gives 10 more hp.

your speedo not read while wheelspinning?

just....i cant really get my head around a 1.2 being that fast  think i need to see it to believe it

Yes they can Ryan!

can you not remember the old diahatsui charades lol what a machine lol 1.0l turbo with 100bhp loli know of one that pushes 200bhp

Daihatsu have better motors than that. They have a have 660cc 4cyl turbo that when tuned, will run around 220bhp at the wheels, at the flywheel its more like 250hp.

Charade is still a nice motor though.
