hi

just bought my first seicento sporting for the mrs and gotta say its a great little car, fun to drive and has got some poke for a 1100 engine..

the problem is the handbrake is non existant and the rear brakes are getting stuck on so i want to change handbrake cable, levers , springs rear brake shoes etc , etc. is there a good site i can order all the parts from online ???

cheers and great forum by the way

i when on that brakes international site but they only sell the cable, i need the springs and the pivot arm things ???

The springs and stuff are £5 from your local factors, just list what you need and go in and pay, don't go to Fiat cos they wanted £50 just for the springs!!

will i need part numbers ???

also when i was looking on the forum earlier i fount a diagram of the rear brake setup but for the life of me i cant find it anywhere now

No you don't need part number just say you need a shoe retaining kit, it comes with all the springs and pins etc.

Take the rear wheels off, drum off, inspect the parts first before buying everything.

The linkages will likely be seized, this is the part that transfers the action of the handbrake lever to the shoes so this is likely why your not getting anything.

Remove these and free them up then put some copper grease on it, give everything a good clean then try from there with regard to other parts.

you know my cinq had a very similar problem, new cable didnt fix everything and shoes were fine.

if you take the drums apart make sure all teh joints and the piston that moves the shoes are all free. as mineis an old car they'd somewhat seized makign the handbrake not apply properly, we got everything working smoothly and with a new cabel its ready for its MOT again :D

i dopubt everything is wrong itl just be 1 or 2 things. if you can get it up on a ramp and have a very good look around/cleanout, make sure everything smooth then if its still not working consider buying the parts
