Technical Rear drum removal

I've embarked on sorting out the partially seized handbrake & am having a right nightmare trying to get my drums off. I've disconnected the handbrake cable and given the arm a few whacks with a rubber hammer, this means I can actually now just about turn the road wheel by hand. There is about 10mm of 'slack' but stiff movement in the lever now, but I can't for the life of me get anywhere with removing the actual drum. I've tried drawing it off with bolts but to no avail .

Any other hints from people?

i think i wedged a big screwdriver between the drum and plate and then lightly tapped it with the mark 1. i had no intention of reusing any bits from those brakes though..

A hammer driving from behind, with a stake or screwdriver should help shift it, if you don't have hub puller....but its def wise to get one in the tool kit...I have even used mine for breaking ball joints

I am surprised it so hard to get off though...good luck with it

Try and use a wooden pointed object cos hammering it with metal can shatter the drum.

I have never seen the chinq back drum,but when i done my brava,i had the same problem

What i done was take away the wheel baering nut and washer CAREFULLY

And then took the hole hub with the drum on it of,it just slides of

Then turn the drum over and gently chap the hub out of the drum carefuly

and then put the hub back on be careful to keep the baering intact.

Drums are off rubber hammer and a puller did the trick, turns out the inside of the drums were all rusted up so off to work and machined out the insides and they're all shiny again.

However the split pins are so rusted in I can't get them out :bang:, I think it's time for a few pieces and a jr hacksaw :devil:
