my centre section has started to blow so rather than opting for a standard replacement im after a stainless, but not sure on which one, custom like longlife?or powerflow? or ready built like magnex, scorpion?

powerflow is tat

Only as tat as the person putting it together. Some people get lucky, and get an exhaust made by someone good, other people get one made by the type of person that gives powerflow a bad name.

Custom route all the time for me.

At least in most cases you can get the sound you want.

Although you have the extra cost though

I've got a stainless powerflow and I have to say 6 months on I'm not very impressed, while the silencer is nice n' clean & the mild steel exhaust clamp is yet to show any corrosion the actual stainless piping is visually starting to rust already. Comparing it to a friends custom exhaust that only is showing spots of discolouration after 18 months. That said they got the sound of the exhaust bang on a quite but defined bassy burble.

My Powersh**t exhaust has been an absolute nightmare, so much so, I am considering junking it, but £340 is a lot to waste......I'd steer clear from any branch in the future just from my experience.

I know its a franchise, but, I'd rather go to someone else / anybody else....I bet I could do a better job, and am now trying to fix the problems myself.

Either stick with a decent aftermarket, or make SURE you a getting a good fitter and service!

well i just welded up a huge hole in me centrepipe, soooo much quieter now, much quieter then when i got the car, with a power flow backbox, anyway, manifold and decat should make up for it.

Ill be going to a powerflow center to have a straight through midpipe made up. me dad used to go fishing with the manager of that unit, but even me dad said all the other people there are just monkeys, lol he went to get a s/s bit for his campervan:rolleyes:

Shame the only other custom exhaust center in my area employed a lad which i hate:yuck:

If you go custom then do a very careful investigation via the net and even ask to see a few examples of their work or just visit a coupl of times and see the work they are actually doing and you'll get the impression whether it's good or not.

Off the shelf stuff is the safe option and IMO the best cos the exhaust has been designed for your car whereas the custom places uses universal silencers, the off the shelf stuff is also gonna be nearly better materials too.

Going custom is or was IMO only an option if you want dual exit or 17 tail pipes.
