What top end is achievable?

How is pull from 60 onwards?

I'm seriously considering one now but would like truthful opinions from owners before I take the plunge.

i thinks petes low bar goes off the clock?

I find the torque in fifth gear really good pulls well if u suddenly accelerate from 70mph. Havent done a top speed run but got to 115mph before and would say bout 125-130mph realisticly before the rev limiter kicks in. Oh this is a high boost.

0-60 in sub 7 from a cinque the looks from others when beaten are classic!

4th gear in the High Boost is EVIL! (meaning fun tho...!) The Turbo is fantastic for overtaking - drop it down a gear and it has so much punch! Haven't done 0-60 or top end - but will once it's back together. Does just over 95 in 4th easy - would keep going but for rev limiter. I've been in the Low boost Turbo too - that is also pretty much as rapid and it did 94 in 4th.
Previous owner claimed a 0-60 in between 7/8 secs and apparently well over 130 (neither I have checked and don't know how he measured top end 'cos would have been off the clock) - but both of those sound reasonable seeing as my n/a Cinq did a *badly* measured 0-60 in 10 secs the other day (it can go quicker).
I'll post back when it's done.
I would recommend a turbo if you can get it and don't have to worry 'bout reliability. They are superb fun and it takes a hell of a lot to tune a n/a engine as much - unless it's a 1.2 16v - which has a whole new set of problems itself.
Hope this helps - feel free to ask me anymore questions you want,
Matt

OH yeah... you can have a dump valve then too!!!!
brrrrrrummmmm-pttttssschhh!

How much would a turbo for a sporting cinq set me back? Any ideas?

Cheers

Low Boost:
£1000ish for the kit you fit yourself from Van Aaken
£1600-1800ish fitted and tested by Van Aaken
Both depend on options tho - dump valve etc are extras.

High Boost:
Don't make it anymore.
Vary rare apparently, Dino's selling his - ££ = ask him
Hope this helps,
Matt

Who bought my turbo kit?
Did you ever fit it?
Need to know the serial number for the 2nd injector ecu cause like a muppet I have lost it.

cheers

hi

I have been in a 1242 Turbo with 118BHP (Belongs to Julio Scoricho), the novitec one. It pulls real well through all gears, would dear say that it would go off the click given the chance. As i recall i think it is running 0.6 bar, i got pushed right back into the seat as well. I loved it :D

anyone got a bhp/torque graph for a turbo?
My 1242 was doing tested 8-8.1 0-60's with 75bhp and a lightened flywheel.
I want 120bhp from my 1242sc, just depends what boost you can get with a standard bottom end and a lowered compression head
:p

I have one for my high boost turbo - I'd have to scan it in and e-mail you if you want it? That's a very rapid 0-60 time - mainly because of the flywheel? With adjustable boost, the max. my car's ever been run at with standard bottom end and lowered compression was 0.9bar - racing - I have it set a the minimum 0.6 all the time for reliability. The car was originally rolling roaded at 91BHP but it's probably running at around 100 now.
Let me know where to send the graph.

email to address in the email link above please:)
the flywheel deffo helps, 1-2-3 gears were rapid then dropped of in 4th, would stay with a m8s astra turbo to the topo of 3rd (65ish) he was soo pi55ed about that :D
You aren't running much bar for a turbo, is that due to standard pistons?
Superchargers are good up to about 1 bar then you are better with a turbo, I want to gain more mid range tho, even a 1242 has to be rev'ed hard to make it move, I want torque more than power, as it will make it a faster car on the track.
What ecu are you using to drive the second injector?

Yeah pistons are standard - just the compression that has been lowered. The boost that is running at the mo in the Cento is enough, trust me! It is very rapid. I'm now getting my flywheel lightened :D:D so it will now have BAGS of torque.
As for the ECU running the second injector it's got "MF2" written on it - that's all I know. I'm toying with the idea of making a 1242 High Boost Turbo tho... 120BHP is the magical figure that I'm after... and the Novitec one is 118BHP...

I'm hoping to whack in a Vanaaken in the near future, although financial constraints prevent it at the moment!
Would anyone like to hazard a guess as to whether Vanaaken will discontinue the low boost kit in the near future? say 2yrs time?? [?]

Best bet is to give them a ring?
Although I would say the bloke that knew a lot about the Cinq Turbo did leave Van Aaken so there isn't really anyone there who knows it intricatly - apparently?

The V-A turbo kit is a bit of a bodge (or the one I had)
You "could" do it yourself, the hard parts to do would be hacking the manifold and making up the phelum chamber to mount the second injector.
The one I had was an early conversion, they had shaved the top of the pistons to get the compression, later it had a low compression head due to holed pistons which was a better solution.
When I finally get the roof on my workshop I will start building up the SC engine :)
