Hi all, I've just started aquiring parts for the above conversion, one potential prob has popped into my head. If I'm using the ECU from a Sporting ( or Punto donor ) will I need the Red / Blue keys to sort the imobiliser? ( I don't know if all Sportings had one, or was it a later addition ).
I was thinking of using a modded ECU at some point which I belive would cure this anyway - should I just use this from the off?
Also, any idea's for mod's to the 60 engine would be welcome - I'm thinking of an induction kit and 75 cam ( and ECU ), is anything else worth doing?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Neil

yeah, for what it costs it will save you so much hassle.

yeah, decent induction, proper exhaust system, cam and ECU should see you right. you can always do more later (port head etc)

make sure you get the sportings suspension, arb etc. or get a full after market suspension kit, lowered 40mm with matched dampers.

uprate your brakes too. Red Dot 6 grooves and fast road pads as a min.

Hi arc - already have full Sporting suspention inc. arb waiting to go on, I want to leave it looking as stock as poss ( I'm a big sleeper fan ) so don't really wan to lower it too noticably. Was also thinking of polybushing and maybe strut mount - any comment on those, anyone?
I'm already running Minitex pads and disc's which feel nice, but thanks for the advice on the upgrade.
Slinky - I can't promise anything, but I'll do my best !!
Cheers, Neil

Be great if you could do a step by step guide 1275GT (I take it you have a Mini connection ;) ) as I'm thinking of converting my Soleil to Sporting spec. It looks fairly simple nuts and bolts stuff, but what about the engine bay wiring loom? Can you unplug the 899 engine loom and plug in the Sporting loom in its place, or is there more to it?

I also have a complete Punto 75 with excellent engine that will either find a home in my Uno or Cinq. Decisions decisions!

fair enough, but at normal height the sportings handling is a bit.. iffy. Lowering 30-40mm is too noticeable when you look at it, but makes a massive difference.

Fitting powerflex bushes on the rear is worth doing, the front i've heard not so much so considering new wishbones come with the new bushes already on them. I have powerflex on my rears, and stock new arms on the front. I've not driven the car like that though.

Strut mounts? You mean the top mounts? I'm not sure if there are any aftermarket replacements for them - so not really much to comment on there!

Hello again all.
1986Uno, I'm not sure I'm that organised, but I'll see if I can give it a go once I've got everything together. To be honest, I haven't even looked at the loom yet. But I don't see it being too much of a problem even if it's not just a matter of plug and play. And yes had my fair shair of Min's - have a brown 84 City in the garage that I'm aquiring bits for. Hopefully very light and fairly big spec 998/1100, brown and standard looking.
Arc, thanks again for your comments - gives me something else to ponder !!
Strut mounts -DOH!! Meant strut brace - my apoliges, but that was written at stupid o'clock in the morning.
Thanks again, all.
Cheers, Neil
