Hi all

Just spending some time around my new engine bay and I cannot get the oil filler cap off! (Cinq 899cc SX) It seems to be seized on! I have just taken the skin off my thumb trying!

Any ideas or will I need to get the hacksaw out and get a new cap? Has this happened to anyone else before?

Yeah I've had this before - you just gotta keep at it - it'll undo eventually

Yep, the unpredictbility of FIAT ownership - you can't beat it!!! I'm guessing that the previous owner did not like looking under the bonnet...!

Do it when the engine is hot. Should be easier.

as far as i know it is easier when the engine is cold .

Pipe grips can help.

you wont burn yourself as much when cold, but when its hot, the cap should soften up being as its a plastic/rubber. that and metal expands when its hot.

Thanks all, now sorted. Used a screwdriver and a hammer...very gently of course!!!
