These tyre debates are great fun

I personally have forund the Conti-Sports 185/50/14 the best all round tyre for me so far. They have great grip in the dry and are predicable if you are pushing hard, Plus in the wet they are brilliant especially under braking.

I found they are much lighter on the steering compared to the Pirrelli's i was using before too (good to know if you don't have power steering )

The only down side is they are about the most expensive road tyres in that size

It would be interesting to do a back to back with the Uniroyals, but then, on 5.5J Contis are pretty much the choice, no 185/50/14 in Rainsports!

Re: Sei Sporting Abarth Tyres - URGENT HELP PLEASE

195/45/14s would fit nicely on a 5.5J wheel right? i have had a look around and Toyo recommend a 6J wheel + but i have 5.5Js and know of some cheap 195/45s so would they be OK/Suitable?
Thanks
Craig

looking at how they're bulged onto my 6" wide wheels im not too sure i'd like 195's on anything thinner tbh

Re: Sei Sporting Abarth Tyres - URGENT HELP PLEASE

First off the Uniroyal Rain Sports are 'all year' tyres so have, as all year tyres, allegedly been designed to deal with wet weather and low temps as well as hot & dry conditions. As for Rain Sports v's Sports Contact I believe they use very similar compounds so it comes down to tread design.

195 on a 5.5" rim is going to put a lot of stress on the tyre shoulder and also the sidewall above the beading, this will only be exacerbated by a low profile sidewall. It also might end up causing tread doming as though the tyre is over pressure even though it's at the right pressure, which isn't good for tread wear or grip.

195's are really designed for a 6.5 inch rim. 6 is pushing it, wouldnt go any lower!
