I've got an 02 broom yellow punto. I recently had the front and rear bumpers aswell as the left rear wing replaced and/or resprayed (with the original paint code). It doesn't match perfectly, however. Would t-cutting help blend it all in? Is t-cut the best thing to use, & am I better off using coloured or original?

cheers.

take it back where it was done, and demand a respray. you should not need to do anything regarding T CUT and polish. sure it was broom yellow? they do a few yellows that are very similar but slightly different.:)

Hello there didnt you notice the colour match was bad when you picked up your car I would have had a good look and if as yours the colour didnt match play holly hell and not paid them until they put it write your car is only 02 reg the paint work shurely isnt faded to warrant T cuttng Ben R where are you (y)

Well, it's difficult to take it back, as it was resprayed because it mismatched but the respray was a surprise present from my mum; If I take it back i'll look ungrateful.

The front bumper was resprayed a couple of months back, and didn't match.

I just got both bumpers done again, rear matches almost perfectly (can only tell a slight slight difference in perfect natural light and nobody else would ever notice, I'm just finicky) - front matches poorly on one side (left), and averagely on another. Maybe the left wing was resprayed at some point before I got the car. Perhaps I just notice these things because it mismatched so badly before, and I'm really conscious of it?

I'll try to post up some pics tomorrow afternoon (After I've put my new alloys on) and see what you guys think.

Im sure your mother would not think your ungratefull at the end of the day she would expect the job to be done correctly this is becomeing the problem in this country now we pay to have a job done and not just motor repaires they the supposed tradesmen quite often do an inferior job and they expect you to pay up and not complain well Im sorry its not on and something needs to be done to address the problem its getting out of hand

if a relative bought me a TV say and it was not working right,i would take it back. same here, my mum would insist i took it back. why didn't you complain at the bodyshop? they work under a code of condult. if its a mismatch and the bodyshop is any good, they would never of let it out like that. these places work on reputation. do the right thing and get the car looking as it should. as it stands. that car is worth a lot less then it should. its possibly unsellable as well.:(

I've already been told that I'm ungrateful and "not to complain about it any more because it's the best you're getting". As you can see, I don't want to aggravate the situation with her any more.

but its your car, you want it to look as good as possible. your not ungrateful, and your mam shouldnt be saying that.

have you tried a polishing compound, as that should work better than t-cut.

Hey chris, I'll try that, want a really fine one though - not one that takes massive care to apply, don't want to see metal. Got any recommendations anyone?

You've got to understand that this woman has issues, and will 99% kick me out if I take it back and complain.

explain to her that the car is worth at least £600 less then it should. show hher these posts to confirm you are not winding her up.
if you want fine compound, use farcella G6. then use a good polish.:)

Cheers, hope that i'll be fine with that and my limited expertise, heh. I'll let you know how it goes, (i'll probably still post pics tomorrow)

remember, once you mess with it,the bodyshop has a right to reject your requests for a respray.(n)

fortunately (perhaps) i discovered a small crack in paint (seems as if it's from where they screwed it on and the paint cracked as it tightened) on the left hand side, on the bumper. This is good, because it means that I'm taking it back tomorrow, they'll have to respray, and I can say "well make sure that you get the colour right this time or it'll be coming back again"

She seems ok with me taking it back for the crack, too. :D

get the lot done and be happy. parents are fine if you use kid gloves and explain things very carefully and tactfully;)

Got exactly the same with my parents, where I pay for stuff for my car, do the work myself etc, and they always complain about how they have never known a car need so much work, but the truth is both of theirs are detioriating and they aren't prepared to do anything about it, they just accept that thats what happens.

anyway, painted my own bumpers with Holts custom paint, which was mean't to be the right colour, it was like forest green versus a bluey pine green! So took the paint back and showed the guy the bumper on the car and how different it was. Eventually got a remix of paint from him that was mean't to be right, still too green and bluey, needs to be half a shade darker and 1shade less green!!

I bought 4cans of primer @£5 each.
3 cans of custom paint @ £10 each
5sheets of 1200grit wet and dry at £6
several days and late nights in the famous (well not really) flat 82 student paint shop!! (my uni flats lounge decked out in paper and a good filtration system, and heating, namely two big off storage heaters and a window at each end of room on 4th floor to prevent death by asfixiation!).

Anyway, taking car back to the paint shop tommorrow to ask for another paint mix as its still not right. But not just that, the finish came right off the paint!! Went from uber smooth to being gritty and rough/matt feeling around the lower half, well heres a few pictures.

well give fotopic a while to push them through, unlike me they don't stay up all night, been awake for 28hours now, going for 60hours! Got two mates here to feed me and themselves uber strong coffee!
