Interior Mold help

Hi all...

So we didn't catch the sun roof problem in my Seicento SX 1.1L until the mold had set in (moving out got in the way, I don't drive it yet)

The interior is pretty wrecked but the mechanics are working too well to scrap so I was going to break but I want to give it one more go.

In the short term I need some tips on killing the mold (at the moment surprisingly it looks as if it's only surface but the seats are getting wrecked as we speak)

We've sealed the sunroof as best as we can to stop it getting wet in there but how do you recommend I get it dry inside when the battery is flat and I can't jump it yet to turn heaters on

It's a bit of a mess at the moment but I know it can be fixed!

Thanks in advance,
Atlanta

Re: Interior Mold help

Welcome to the forum

If it were me (and, as mine has been outside with a rusty sunroof for a couple of years too, it could very well be me!) I'd be taking the seats out and stripping the covers off using this guide.

I'd also look at taking the carpet out (while the seats are out this should be a piece of cake) and give it a clean with a home carpet shampoo'er.

With the seats apart you'll be able to see if any of the foam needs replaced, or if you can get away with just killing the mould and re-upholstering.

Re: Interior Mold help

I've found steam cleaning to be pretty effective, take the seats out and do it on a hot sunny day, leave them to dry in the sun afterwards (sun will also kill mould).

(Lidl had a cheap small steam cleaner recently)
