Hi all, going to do an oil change, just wondered anyone used a pump to remove old oil, any thoughts.

Why not just take the drain plug out?
Extracting the oil from the dipstick hole is likely to leave some behind. Any crap sitting in the oil will be left behind too.
Removing the plug gets it all out, so the new oil is all new.

Make sure the old oil gets taken to your local waste disposal site. Don't put it into a drain, or onto the garden.

Just an update on using electric pump bought of fleabay, in a word load of crap, it would take far to long to empty the sump, i put the tube down the dip stick hole nice and easy no matter how you do it , push it in a bit at a time till oil flows through, obviously got a very small amount out but it would not even fill an egg cup, maybe someone on hear knows where i may be going wrong, so maybe someone could chime in with an idea i would be very appreciative of any sugestions.

I would have liked to do the job by removing the drain plug but the last person to have changed the oil has rounded out the hole on the sump plug, so can not remove it the conventional way so thought pump was the way to go, looks like a trip to the garage.

Common problem, people do them up too tight and then use a poor-fitting tool to undo them. They have a tapered thread, so tighten as they go in to make the seal. A 12mm hex key is only about 4" long and allows ample tightening torque.

New plugs are cheap.

1. Try grip pliers.

2. Weld a bolt into it, then use two nuts on the bolt to undo it. Throw it away and replace with new.
Find a suitable bolt. Original internal hex is 12mm, so a 13mm head will not fit, but could grind/file it down. Do the preparation work yourself. Then a garage should be able to splash the weld on.

3. Could try drilling it and using an Eezi-out, but that may not be successful, and then you've got a hole. Drilling swarf will come out with the old oil as long as engine not run.
