hey, i need lots of help bout gettin cinq immaculate, where are the areas commonly missed, any uggestion to cloths to use once at show, n what to take with me after the drive there. any advice be good thanks xxx

I use tack cleaner on PVC/leather - its really good.

Elbow grease is definately needed.

If you want concours style cleaning, then scrub the wheelarches, the whole underside etc. Some people put mirrors underneath to show off the underside and concours judges check under the wheelarches with their fingernails for dirt.

Take plenty of polish and clean soft cloths with you.

dont have any pvc/ leather lol, its gonna be a bit late for mirrors, would a brillio pad on the arches do? what polish like normal car spray wax stuff? lol xxx

Nooooo! A brillo pad is far too abrasive, even if it has plastic arches you don't want to be using one, with metal you will nicely ruin the finish and paint.

No brillo pad!

If you go to an accessory shop, Halfords, etc. and have alook to see what polishes they have.

Yes and if you use a brillo pad you will remove all the dirt, then the paint, then the outer surface of the metal, a year later you won't have any arch left.

You could considering jet washing the dirt off when possible then using a sponge to removing any remains then suggestions of what polish/rust protection to use.

A brillo pad is way too abrassive, you can use it to remove surface corrosion on aluminium!

Just don't point it directly at the brakes!

But when you're using a powerwasher you also need to be careful, never use it on more than about the 75% maximum setting on a 100bar pressure washer so keep the flow fairly wide, avoid getting close, if something doesn't come off, rely on elbow grease, getting too close will possibly damage the paint/finish. Be careful of clipping the edge of the arch too when you're moving it around - you could end up touching it from 1cm. Since cinq's paint finish is hardly the best, it's best to be careful than sorry.

try a good wash, chamois dry and then polish each section really slowly then. polish the windows leave it half an hour and polish the whole car again.

works a real treat. does not really matter on the type of polish you use. but it will make the car so shiny you can see your pretty face in it

a good wash is a hand wash with erm anything other than plain washing up liquid. a specialist car cleaning soap is best. erm turtle wax or something like dat

Yeah, washing up liquid is mostly salt water

Everyone misses all the black trim and the little area at the top of the windows as they clean them when there up so they miss a couple of mm.

Also for females, car valeting must be under taken in strict dresscode i.e. Hotpants only!

Just this once I'll make an exception for bikinis since your a fellow Scot!

Yeah, not products can really do it for you, just hard work is what it takes.

Oncxe spent nine yes 9 hours doing a full valet on my Dad's Rover which I was driving at the time, Cinq's can be done in five.

I'd ask the guys that are spraying it for advice on polishes etc, don't want to ruin all there work now.
