Hi, I'm planning on giving my car a good thorough clean up cutting through the winter grime and have used t-cut in the past but have never been that impressed with it and it's always really difficult to get off.

Are there any good alternatives out there in cutting power and easier to get off?

Thanks
Andrew

You could try cutting compound as applied to freshly painted cars. Not seen it in the shops though - you'd need to ask at your local bodyshop.

Im rather religious about washing my car.

Usually start with megs NXT carwash

Then i clay it afterwards to get rid of all the tar annd built up crud to leave the paintwork like glass then use the meg 3 stage stuff which is a paint restorer a polish and a wax. then apply another 3 coats of megs tech wax over a couple days.

The paintwork just goes mental in the sun afterwards seriously shiny!

Then use some cheapo back to black stuff for the sidestrips etc havnt bought any good stuff and this stuff does what it needs to. and was free.

the clay should get rid of most of the rubbish though and rather easy to use only took me around 30 minutes to do my whole car. And the paintwork was brilliantly smooth afterwards so really did get everything off even the stuff i couldnt see. If your not happy with it though you can get your money back.

An easy way to get t-cut off is to polish it off.

To explain, t-cut the car / panel you want to restore, then instead of keeping on going to try to remove the t-cut simply polish (cheapo stuff will do for this) on top of the unremoved t-cut then buff the polish off when it hazes over.

It'll come off without all the rubbing and you won't get popeye arms.

T-cut metallic is easier to use with a finer cut, but for a superb finish you should consider machine polishing with farecla, autosmart or autoglym stage polishes.

Things to remeber about T-Cut and other cutting compounds.

T-Cut is not safe on new cars, it's just to harsh, this is better for older cars.

Safe cut and Auto G are the best for newer cars.

Cutting compounds are to harsh.

Remember all the above are mild sand papers, do not over do it or you will rub of the paint. Always clean the surfce in panels, don;t just do a small section as you will see it in the sun light.

Ways to clean a dirty faded car. Wash with a normal household detergant. Then T-Cut / Safe cut the car and remove all the faded paint work, tar scratches etc. Then wash the car with a good car wax polish. Then buff to your hearts content. The more after wax / polish you put on the long the shine lasts and the easier it will clean the next time.

*Never use a car wash, they scratch your body*

Sorry if I sound a geek, I sent my car back 18 mths after buying it shiner than I bought it. My girlfriend is upset as I don't spend as much time on her body!!! anyway......................... (y)
