Hi, I'm guessing this is probably the best place for it so here goes...

today I bought a bottle of Rain-x washer additive, but just now I've read a few bad things about it in different places, such as; it makes the wipers jump and it's not good for the paint etc...

Has/does anybody else use it? What are your thoughts?

Not used the washer additive stuff myself, but use the spray on coating without issue

I know the proper stuff is very bad for paintwork so I'd really not want to risk the additive having the same effect. Just do it properly.

In this case I think I'll give it a miss, stick with halfrauds screen wash

Buy some Gtechniq G1 and coat your windscreen in that.

But you're suppose to put it on the glass not paint work Why's it bad for paint anyways

(Alternative to) Rain-X Additive

According to a very active contributor on the Smartmaniacs forum, this is the best stuff for windows. He maintains that one container will do the whole car if you prepare well and perhaps even a second car (so find a friend) before breaking the glass phial to mix the contents and that it lasts about 9 months before noticing it's going off slightly.

Ive found with Rainx its best to apply leave it on the glass for a 10min plus, then go back with an ever so slightly damp cloth and wipe it clear requiring no effort at all. If you try to buff it clear with a dry cloth you will be there all day.

Doing it that way stopped the judder for me aswell.

Same water / dirt repelling action only it's friendly to paint. I rarely need to use my wipers now the rain just runs off the screen .
