This has probably been mentioned a thousand times before, but how long can I keep driving with the sloshing sound that happens when the engines cold? I can bleed the system, its just having the time to do it.

Harry

You could of done it in the time it's taken you to start this thread:confused:

Gotta drain the system first haven't I? Got red to go in and PO has used blue. Question is I'm ok using it for now aren't I?

If no bleed screws it means the expansion tank is at the highest point on the vehicle, and there for the recirculating water should be returning back to expansion tank and along with any air

Remember when to let the vehicle warm up as much as possible to allow the stat to open up and let the air escape
keeping an eye on the level, dont let it drop too low

How ever a self bleeder should never make rushing water noise, it means an air lock or a leak

The punto has them. Landie doesn't even have an expansion tank.

I opened the punto bleed screws and they let a hell of a lot of air out. Went on for a good 10-20 seconds. I will flush the system out when I can.

You have air in the system, change coolant if you want, I assumed you were enquiring what the noise was and from the description you have air in the system. If/when you bleed it raise front of car.....this is why you probably have the noise in the first place as it wasn't bled properly by PO. Also I bleed 188 systems cold.

I'll stick it on my ramps. I just have a standard set of ramps that will raise the car 10 inches or so. That should give me enough room?

It was a general enquiry yeah. I also found the at was getting a lot hotter after my first attempt at bleeding but after a drive the overheating symptoms disappeared

bleeding the 188 can be difficult hence raising the front end however sometimes that does not work and a modification to the coolant tank is required, but in answer to your question my 188 made this noise at start up for 4 years and now has 100k on the clock.
