Got some green mould on the seals of the windows in the doors.

How can I get rid of this and prevent it? I know any sort of mould remover would decimate the rubber seals, so any ideas? Just wipe it off with kitchen roll or something?

clean your car more often you scruff :p

A decent all purpose cleaner eg daisy from tesco or flash and a paint brush will be your best safest bet then rinse with pressure washer to start with and a regular wash

if it keeps coming back

a body shop solvent panel wipe should kill any spores as too will a decent mix of tfr traffic film remover

if it comes back a very weak bleach solution and repeat

Thanks Andy mate I was meaning to ask this question myself so thanks for the answer!

That's it. (y)

I do clean my car a lot! I thought a bleach solution would eat away at the rubber, am I wrong?

almost everything attacks rubber over time even sun light but a weak solution should have no
detrimental effect

a propriety rubber dressing after is always a good idea

see how the milder chemicals first though

Use Autosmart G101 - diluted about 12:1.

It is an excellent all round cleaner and superb value for money - It can be used on all fabrics and plastics when diluted. Working on the premise that AG Interior Shampoo is about £7 - this stuff works out about 100 times cheaper.

Autosmart are getting very unhappy with people decanting these sort of products and selling them to the general public without the required safety data....

I picked 5l up from a AS rep for £15 so that's not very cheap either If not used correctly it can cause staining to paint work and plastics and in its concentrated formula is corrosive......

Yes its good but not really a home user product unless you are very careful

To be honest i much prefer Bilt hamber Surfex over G101

12:1 is rather strong for general cleaning

1:30 it cleans most things

used for degreasing they recommend 1:8 (but since most engine tops are bare aluminium its probably not the best thing to use in the engine bay

There's not much that Autosmart can do, to be honest.

30:1 is too weak for me - I use is at about 12:1 to 15:1 problem free but it is ALWAYS safe to check a small inconspicuous are first.

"Autosmart G101 is a highly concentrated multi-purpose cleaner, and should thus always be diluted to an appropriate strength before use. For general cleaning duties it should be diluted 30:1 (water:product), while for more intensive degreasing duties it should be diluted 8:1 (water:product). Autosmart G101 may also be used for wheel cleaning and synthetic sealant removal duties; in such cases it should be diluted 5:1 (water:product) and spot tested before use. In all cases, an appropriately diluted solution should be sprayed directly onto the surface to be cleaned and then agitated thoroughly with suitable detailing brushes before being fully rinsed off. Ensure that you never allow Autosmart G101 to dry out fully before it is rinsed off, otherwise permanent staining may occur."
