Hiya guys

I've been looking into getting myself a decent pw and was going to get one this weekend, but yesterday I went into work (I work in the local recycling centres) and the second person thought the gates bought in a karcher petrol pw. So I snapped it up and bought it home

My question is this I've heard that the pumps can potentially explode sending bits of metal flying everywhere and as I have no manual ect i was wondering if theres anything that needs maintaining, greasing, oiling ect

I've started it up and apart from it being rather loud it runs and pumps a dream,I'm chuffed to bits with it and what a bargain at just £1 :p, I just don't know alot about it or if it needs maintaining

Cheers guys

First thing i would do is connect it upto the water supply with the hose on and turn the water on but no power.......

check for any obvious leaks,,,,,,

next remove the pressure hose and aim it away from you and pull start it...

you should get a healthy stream of water it might pulse slightly but not too bad

then turn off connect the hose and ideally peg it down with tent pegs and power it up and check there is no pottentially very dangerous leaks / bulges in the high pressure hose

finally check the gun works ok,,,,,,,

Looking on google it has a brigs and stratton engine (so if the engine is bust look at the engine build type and go out and find a second hand lawn mower and do a transplant

Looking on line most parts can be had including new pumps if its leaking..

hoses and triggers should be cheaper from a local hose supplier

You shouild be able to get the instructions from here:

http://www.lavorservice.it/en/Manuali.aspx

i would probably do an oil change and spark plug once your happy it works ok

Cheers for that buddy I've had It fired up it runs great and even gives a good pressure out, cleaned the missus punto with it yesterday and will be doing mine with it tomorrow evening if the weather allows, it's the older type though as its got the Italian tecumseh vantage 35 engine rather then the Briggs and Stratton but still runs a dream :) I'm going to give it a good run and try out my foam lance on it

Cheers for the link also I'll have a look there in a sec

Just also bought 100 odd quids worth of dodo products to get the cinq looking at its best :p

Will post some pics up if I remember lol

Sorry to drag this one back up, but I've just bought the same washer! I've looked through that link, but cannot find the right manual...

I've got the same engine fitted to a Flymo lawnmower, so I'm familiar with that side of it, but I could do with knowing what service work should be done to the pump side of things!

Also, I read one bit online saying that can run from a tank (as opposed to a mains-pressurised hosepipe), but I need to prime... Any idea how?

Mines isn't a Karcher but There are 2 ways to prime mines I've used.
Domestic supply then make sure not to run it without water connected. Or to connect the tank after letting all the air out the connecting hose and leave it connected till water starts to drip from the outlet connection.

If priming from a tank you must not have the lance hose connected or it stops the advance of water through the system.

Well.... lets revive this thread, after 5 months of no go due to the engine imploding, ive just picked up a new briggs and stratton motor (xc35 iirc) cost me a 10er from a old ish mower and all is running sweet again :), got a few karcher hoses aswel just as spares and also a autobrite foam lance, if anyone is thinking of getting one of them then just go for it, best pre wash ive ever used ans its great fun too :p

What B&S engine is it? Mines got the same engine as the Flymo Lawnchief 35, made by Tehmesu or simillar.

Mine runs, but power is inconsistant, and appears to be blowing from the head.
Been looking for a replacement engine, but no luck yet...

Looking on Google it has a start on engine so if the engine is bust look simply just go out and find a second hand lawn mower and do a replacement. . .

Any old lawnmower engine won't do! Some spin clockwise, some anticlockwise, different output shaft sizes, different speeds.

Stick a high-revving engine that spins the wrong way in, and goodbye Mr. Waterpump...
