I use ValetPro Poseidon's Carnauba wash. It's a bit cheaper than ONR, you just use it in the same way. It leaves a little protection on there too.

You still have to wax for proper protection though.

I agree with the fact that showroom shine stuff is utter garbage.

I'm a complete car care noob, so i thought i better ask a question. Probably going to have to use this stuff now the hosepipe ban is in effect yet i didn't manage to get a wash polish and wax in before the ban came in, so do you think this stuff will clean it enough to be able to do a polish and wax after without destroying my paint?

You can still use a bucket / Watering can (y)

Lol. Trust me they won't stop you, just send you to court to pay a fine.

i was referencing to MEPS post about the commercial jet washes at garages and rocking up with your own bucket and washmitt rather than using the usually very worn and full of grit brush (y)

And if we end up on a ban im going to keep on using my Pressure washer (and stay within the letter of the law) ;)

Sticking £2 in my local jet wash only gave us enough time to wet a Micra.

Hardly enough time to wash it.

I prefer to use a bucket & sponge then hose it down.
Might try a mitt though.

I just cleaned my car using a pressure washer.
I put a few buckets of water from the tap into my water butt and put the hose from the pressure washer in the water, give it a couple of secs to get up to pressure and it worked.
It is all 100% legal, I called my water company and they said that it is OK to do that as long as I don't fill the water butt up with a hose from the tap.

lidl have them in at the moment (butt pumps) ;)

Don't touch Lidl stuff. Bought a pressure washer last year, only used it a couple of times. First outing this year & it ran for about 5 mins then water started coming out of the side of the handle. Lidl accepted that I had bought the pw last year (I narrowed the date down as I had mentioned it on here) but as I couldn't find the reciept, they couldn't honour the 3 year warranty so offered me half price refund.
So what was the point of me registering the product & noting the serial number etc?(n)
