would have thought both together would do a better job ready for waxing than just srp?

All I know is that Collinite sits better on SRP than a dedicated sealant (EGP). Not sure how the EGP would effect the coat of wax on the top, it may end up causing damage to the layer and offering poor durability and beading.
Safe bet is to SRP then wax.
I can't be bothered to trawl through and find evidence of this but im 80% sure.
good enuf for me. saves some time detailing the car at least. lol

the solvents in Collinite will remove the extra gloss protection
colly contains synthetic sealents anyway so no real point at all in using both..... One or the other will be fine

There's no harm whatsoever using a sealnt under a wax (that is what a sealant is designed for) and Colinite will not remove EGP.

yes there isn't much harm in using a sealant under a wax, but the wax finish won't last as long as it isn't able to bond to the paint properly.
sealants are designed to be used on their own, not under waxes. u should normally choose either a wax or a sealant depending on yuour personal preference or which product suits your needs best, ie ultimate protection (sealant) or best looks (wax).
