Any pics? If you can get your finger nail in to the scratch then it will prob need a re-spray.

+1 , if it's got any kind of depth to it, T-Cut won't cut it (no pun!!) - you'll just make it worse and you could even end up going through the paint.

Might be worth you checking with a local detailer before considering any respray though, worst that can happen is they'll say no way but they can achieve amazing results that a cloth and a bit of T-Cut never will.

looks like its down to the white primer, can feel the line on the panel so its quite deep, will try and get some pics up, just sent the guys @ chips away an email, can see there quote being £200 + though

mate i feel your pain, some little cnut done my whole back end last year. if i ever find out who did it, thy will find out how good i am behind the bikesheds with a hammer.....
anyhow i used a mobile firm (but not chips away) and the going £ was around £200 per panel. i got mine done out of hours ;) for a £100 by the same chap if you catch my drift, he was superb. i would have a few people come and quote you and try yer luck as i did, loads of em want to avoid paying the franchise duties..... also get a look at their porfolio of work before you let em loose on yer car:)

spotted today they got the side of the bumper aswell, same length as the door, going of the finance agreement any scratches on the car as charged @ £75 per " and theres now 2 6" scratches :mad: so at that if its £150 - £200 per scrach its still cheaper than paying the penatly when giving the car back

my dad works for PPM at Jaguar, the best way of removing scratches is by using a fine cutting paste and the finest sandpaper available < you can get the sandpaper from a local garage that do paint jobs, its on a roll in octagonal shapes. it can make most scratches disappear, if its down to the primer it will still make it less noticeable, Dont rub too much with the sandpaper otherwise youll leave swirls in the paint, then polish. jobs a gooden

sorry to hijack thrread, but though my problem is similar, and didnt need a new thread.
i have a couple of scratches down to the metal, one nasty one on bonnet from a stone chip, well a rock chip. and one on the side skirt.
when you say respray, you mean just that particular section? that's what id presume it would be, but what about colour matching? isn't it almost impossible to get same colour match from another 'batch'.

May not be up to the job but I've seen adverts on Sky for two different makes of Pen like scratch removers. I've looked the one up on ebay and you can get it for a few pounds. It's "Simoniz Fix It Pro Car Scratch Remover Repair Pen" It doesn't say anything about depth of scratch though. But may be worth a try for a few quid?

Brilliant half arsed advice (y)

Dont wet sand unless you are very very confident, have a Paint Depth Gauge and a machine polisher to remove the wet sanding marks. You dont need to use cutting paste when you are wet sanding. What grit paper would you recommend people use to wet sand their cars?

The whole panel, not one section of a panel. You start with the paint code and then match it to the car itself. You should never get paint mixed up and put on just going off the paint code.

I have noticed some little 'gem' has taken to the side of my car with something pointy and left a scratch guess i'll be cracking out the T-Cut this weekend! good luck getting yours sorted.
Might put pic's up depending on how it goes :)

Has anyone actually tried one of these pens?
I know many will laugh & say they are rubbish - without actually trying them, after all, how can a pen repair a scratch?

Actually, there was talk a few years back about using a covering (?) which repaired itself - rather like cutting mats you can buy for crafting.
