if the paint is in good clean condition just apply another coat of EGP it should be lasting you months! not mixing your shampoo too strong are you?

Dont think so, 2 caps of AG Shampoo usually does it, though its been a good 5 weeks, something like that with nothing more than a spray / wipe / spray / dry.

Also theres a quarry just over the trees oposite + live near a railway line, my car has been pretty hammered environmentally recently (plus the volcano) so its not surprising its wearing off, might just wash it down properly & EGP it again then :)

though this dodo juice might be an idea, need my cash to settle before i buy more stuff for the car tbh, not even got around to ordering new drying cloth yet! - might do that now

As Andy said, most good drying towels won't need wringing out at all. I use a Serious Performance Uber Drying Towel and it's really thick and plush, it feels much softer than any towel I've ever used before and mops up water like nothing else!

Towel arrived today, im very impressed! unbelievably thick/soft, good size for a rub down aswell.

Had to hose down the car today but was in a rush so couldnt dry it (Trust me, the state it was in, its better to have water marks.)

Shall give it a full cleaning session on friday to test out the new towel! ^^

Any suggestions for washing to keep it soft? with my house hold towels ive always found they go bloody ridge & turn into sandpaper but im not important, the car is... so any special suggestions to keep it soft?

When washing any kind of towel DON'T use fabric softener, or any liquid which contains softening agents as it affects the absorption and does what you describe. Just wash them in a normal detergent (powder, liquid or otherwise) and they'll be fine (y)

seen as youve got a black car poorboys black hole and then dodo juice purple haze will set your car's paint off lookin AMAZING also pinnacle souveran wax

I've only seen pictures of cars with Pinnacle souveran wax on and they look amazing, £66 a wax kit is a bit pricey but apparently does last a few years.

i usually just rinse mine before and after use (they soak up more water when damp)

if filthy it gets washed at 60^C on its own with non bio washing LIQUID and no softener

(yes mum does her nut when she sees it going round on its own ;) )

My GLW is on night shift tomorrow so all my mirco-fibres and drying towels are heading in the wash :p

I tried out the waffle weave towel, imo it wasn't as good as the fluffy one but will use both as the waffle weave one may improve over time.

Well i cleaned the car today, unfortunately the sun decided to come out when it came to polishing so i skipped it.... but the car looks good, i think just removing the layer of grit that was on there has given me back the polished/egp look & feel.

The towel worked brilliant, did the whole car without wringing, left a few bits of fluff behind but for a brand new out of the box microfibre i think thats expected, no doubt after a wash that wont be an issue.

Then my dad came home, and i cleaned his car off aswell, so i did my Punto Evo + my dads Astra without wringing once.

10/10 :)

if you are looking to retain the just waxed look for longer invest in a bottle of Autoglyms Aqua wax (trade name express wax) get the car almost dry and use a VERY light mist of the stuff (about 3 pumps to do the roof) spread with one MF cloth and buff off with another. (y)

erm currently swapping between i4detailing uber prmium one which tbh according to my mum is a PITA to clean lol and the ultra plush version go round once with the big one and then the ultra plush for the smaller little annoying bits! sometimes abit of last touch but most of the time tbh drying aids dont really seem to help me Dodo juice time to dry tbh i find annoying as well

Sorry slight thread revival here, but just wanted to say that I got myself a Serious Performance Uber Drying Towel and my god is it good! Well worth it, I'd highly recommend it. I'll never go back to a chamois again.

I'm a newcomer to cleaning my car properly, but I have a new 500 in white which I am loving keeping clean.

I have a few questions about cleaning, which I'll try to answer from existing threads and add to those as necessary, but reading this particular thread made me ask myself why no one has mentioned chamois leathers bar Ryuno in the previous post. I though that's what you use for drying cars (Chamois leathers, not Ryunos)? It's certainly what I use - am I making a mistake?

Chamois leather is very good for drying the car quickly, but due to the surface of the leather (fairly flat and hard, even when wet) it's very easy to mark the paintwork. You might not notice them at first, but after a while you'll get swirl marks appearing and over time you will dull your paint.

Using a deep pile towel like the Serious Performance Uber towel means that the tiny bits of dust and grit left behind after a wash (and there will always be some, no matter how clean it looks!) get 'soaked' into the deep pile and so are held away from the paint. They also absorb more liquid over time and don't require any rinsing.

I have two generic deep pile microfiber towels. One for the first few swipes to take up the bulk of the water and a second to completely dry the car. Then a 3rd old towel for bits like the scuttle plastic cover, bumper grill.

Once you have waxed a car for its first time it gets so much easier to dry. I had a camois and hated it, only used it carefully a couple of times it just felt like an accident waiting to happen.

Has anyone tried the Autoglym Microfiber Drying Towel?

Has no one thought about using a purpose made leather shammy cloth. thats what i used, just wet the leather to make it supple under the tap then ring out

then go aroudn the car doing 3 pannels to roughtly dry, ring out then go over again and work your way around the car :)

Or use showroom shine form ideal world, its washes your car without water and leaves a waxy layer :)
