De-icing

De-icing

Ive said this before but here again is a sure fire way of keeping the locks from freezing. Indeed spray some thing like "vd40" in the barrel, insert key in/out fiddle it all about, then put some 3in1 oil in the barrel, same again with key. Wipe excess off the lock, then stick some "insulting" tape over the lock. This done the night before ....As for the door its self, clean the rubbers & surround of door, spray with silicon all round. .Job done

let me know how it works for you, recon that stuff will work inside the locks and the other windows?

It worked a treat! All windows/wing mirrors not even a hint of ice. I'd recommend this definitley.

I sprayed de-icer on my cars body work and nothing has happened. :S But when I've been de-icing anyway, the wind/air blows the spray so some of it is bound to hit the paintwork.

Anyone got any ideas on how to stop the windscreen washer hoses from getting blocked and also how to stop the windscreen washer from icing up and melting into clear water?
Someone told me methanated spirits works (prevents the windscreen washer from freezing over), but I'm not sure.

What you guys think???

well i think you need to go to the nearest motor spares shop and look for winter screen wash Then mix it to the correct concentration stated on the bottle for the temperature that its going to be exposed to:idea:

He's not that bad Craig, though I have to say I wasn't aware that Mk1's were still being made in 2009, the R reg plate is quite deceptive
I wasn't talking about being produced in 2009 Frazer, I installed the remote central locking kit this summer so therefore my locks aren't being used this winter. Before they were always being used manually.
Please don't see me as doing a Rolf.
