honest, I'n not making this up. While I was waiting in the reception of a Belfast hotel waiting for my lift I watched the taxi drivers clean their side windows - on the outside - with Pledge (other furniture sprays are available). Not windscreen or rear window - just the door windows. Has anyone tried this?
Googling Pledge I did find this site

which suggests it can be used on helmet visors and it works like Rain-X, and they reckon it was better than purpose products though they did say maybe it didn't last very long.
Before I go out with my can of Mr Sheen and a yellow duster thought I'd enquire if anyone else had tried it.

i use mr muscle glass and mirror cleaner...work a treat....far better than most window polishes

Mr. Muscle has better result then any others glass cleaner. I am using it since last 1 years and I am happy with it.

I hate to admit it but I now pick up every can of polish I see in the supermarket just to see what the ingredients are, unfortunately most of them don't say.

Here's a link to someone who reckons they do know what's in the can, and also that some of the ingredients are in car products anyway.

Still not sure I'd let it loose on my car paintwork, as I said at the start the taxi drivers were just polishing the windows and I can't imagine it would harm those. I use the stuff in the house and haven't noticed any problems there.

At a car show last summer a brand new car (with man) on loan from a local dealership was placed on the stand and i witnessed it being valeted on the outside for the public viewing with a can of furniture polish:eek:
Maybe its a trick of the trade?

i live down a country lane, debadged my bravo a week n a half ago, got the end bits of resin off with vinegar, it seems to repel the dirt and mud,

A few years back, the fella that lived in the flat below me polished his Goldwing every Sunday morning with Pledge. He reckoned it was the best stuff to keep his bike clean and shiny and said that it wouldn't damage the paint (or maybe it's a Belfast thing Lol).

because of the dreadful smell in the cabin of my new 100hp (I think it was the plastics) putting money where mouth is I bought a can of Pledge Multi Surface and gave everything plastic looking a good clean with the stuff. Found it was really good on the interior, it doesn't leave a shiny slippery surface at all.
Not the same as the Belfast cabbies used on their windows though - that was the proper furniture polish variety.
