hi
washed the car today and i have white emulsion or gloss specks all over the drivers side of the car
looks like there has been some paint on the road and i must have driven over it - as the tyres have splashed paint in the wheel arches
won't come off with my fingernail and washing car didnt do anything.

how would you suggest removing the paint safely?
i have
auto glymn super resin polish
and a detailing clay bar with spray
will these do any good? or should i try something else?

Could try claying it...

if not, get some white spirit/ petrol / turps on it- but remember to wash off thoroughly.

cellulose thinners should be your last resort.

clay bar should bring it off, if you have to resort to thinners apply sparingly with cotton sticks to minimise any damage to the paint

Clay it, dragging your finger nail over it will just scratch the fook out your paint.

Celly thinners wont harm factory paint......


You could always try Tar and glue remover and WD-40

i had something similar a few months ago, some bug and tar remover did the job for me.

i have tried

• clay bar
• auto glym ultra deep shine
• white spirits
• wd40
• nail polish remover
• and elbow grease

the panel i tested it on is now smooth as glass but has made very little if any, difference

how long should i need to keep rubbing etc... as i don't want to leave white spirit on the bodywork for too long- and i am washing it off regulary with water.

is it now a case of just giving it some attention every time i wash the car? and hoping that through time it will improve or does anyone have any more suggestions

cellulose thinners.

I had white paint specks on my wifes car which I could not remove with clay or polish. A friend then gave me some "Gorilla wipes" a sort of heavy duty baby wipe which did the trick. I only needed the smallest piece and worked for say 30secs on each spec. I then washed and polished car.

brake fluid.... lol j/k
suprised white spirit never did it cos thats what is used to thin down gloss paint. it must be something else

last resort would be to paint the black bits white

they wont harm the factory paintwork, just anything applied afterwards.

I think Halfrauds sell it, but your local motorfactor should anyway.
