I was fed up of using buckets of water to clean my car and was looking for an alternative. I watched a programme on television on freeview and I came across ProShine. Which uses no water at all.

I was amazed by the results and I have been using it ever since.

Sorry for the photos, they are a little unfocused and could be better.

If anyone has tried this stuff, what are your views on the product?

Its Ok but i wouldn't use it on a dirty car,

I dont care what the bottle says but rubbing over it with a microfiber cloth covered in grit cant do much for the paintwork no matter how well it "encapsulates dirt" ,

its seems expensive for what it is

megs last touch is £18 for a gallon which you mix 1:1 with tap water for light dirt

and it isn't as durable as a real wax (although it does dissolve aphid honey dew very well)

im sticking with my buckets and wash mit ;)

It DOESN'T scratch the car.

If my car is seriously dirty, then i use soap and warm water, then go over it with a chamois to dry it. Then I use the ProShine.

It might seem expensive, but you don't need to spray a lot on the car. You can expect to clean about 10 to 15 cars with it.

If you have already used the stuff on the car, you can let some spray paint dry on the surface and spray ProShine over it and it'll clear it away!!

then go over it with a chamois to dry it.

Suppose that doesn't scratch your car either......

You asked us for our Views and me and mark gave them.....

do you know if proshine contains any "fillers"? one way to see if its causing any damage is to give half the bonnet a wipe down with IPA or Panel prep

oh and as for the spray paint claim :chin: what if you had a panel resprayed...

Anyone remember Mer's old adds on QVC that involved a blowlamp....

nothing chucking the towels in a hot soapy wash cant solve :)

I am right in thinking this aren't i Mark?

Normal wash poweder has no effect on the non soluble silicone.

You need hot water in a bucket (as hot as you can bare) then add about half a bottle of Fairy liquid, mix together & add the towels.

Then rinse the towels well after soaking for an hour or two & wash out in a normal wash in the machine.

Do not do what I did, forget to rinse the towels after they had soaked in Fairy, then chuck them in the machine. Result - lot's of bubbles everywhere in my kitchen.

You can believe what you want, but I am not arguing with you all saying that it scratches the car when you haven't tried the stuff!

wait till a nice sunny day wax the car then come back and tell us it dont scratch. people dont mean scratches like if you got a screw driver and ran it over the car, they mean scratches like swirl marks

There is actually carnauba wax already in the stuff. And again it doesn't leave swirl marks. I've washed the car in warm water and soap, left it to dry/used a chamois and then used the Proshine.

By the way, how hot should the water be? I've used warm hot, but not too hot.

my parents got some of this stuff for my dads car. not brilliant, but it's quick and easy. the results are pretty good, no obvious marks tbh, though i'm sure a detailed look would show a fair bit of small scratches, but no more so than a wash with a sponge tbh.

i use it occasionally on my alloys as they get dusty, and it's easy to quickly clean them with it. wouldn't use it on the Sedicivalvole's body though, have done on my old car, with no obvious bad effects. tbh a good clean and wax/sealent/whatever the F it's called, will keep it clean for a surprisingly long time tbh.

i use a chamois to dry my car though, does the job nicely, and the smell is pretty good:yum: as long as you're not dragging it across the panels it's fine tbh.
