Hey all,

I just helped a mate move her new metal bed around town which went without a hitch till we got everything off the car and found that down both sides were scratches in the paintwork - I'm going to guess they were either made by the metal bed or by the metal belt buckles we were both wearing.

The point is that my lovely white Punto is now looking rather shoddy down both sides. I'm not pleased.

She's distraught and worried that she'll have to pay out a couple of hundred for a complete respray but I kind of get the feeling that some sort of touch up work will do. The car is second hand and I don't want to rinse her wallet over this - but I do want to sort the paint out.

The question here is; what are my options? I'm looking to keep things as cheap as possible and don't mind a day or two getting my hands dirty if it'll sort the problem out. I've attached some pictures to help describe the problem;

First thing i would do is go and get some Megs scratch x on it and see if it will work it off. All it looks like to me are marks on top of the paint that will come off with a semi abrasive polish.

Mere words can't describe how much I owe you... that stuff was dirt cheap and worked perfectly - all the marks are gone and I'm thinking of picking a sunnier day to do the entire car with it since it had such a nice effect on the paint.

So thank you very much, that was... well... brilliant. :worship:

No Problem :) If the car isnt scratched then dont use scratch x all over it. Autoglym super resin polish is alot better at bring the paint back up to a nice shine and then you could do with waxing it to put a protective coat on the paintwork :)

Ahh I see, as you can tell I'm kinda new to the world of paint maintenance, but thanks again for the advice!
