Hi folks,

I recently had a call from a regular customer of mine to machine polish his 1991 Fiat Tipo.

The car was bought from new and has covered only 32000 miles, not that you'd know by looking at it. The paintwork was in a dire condition with chalking and swirlling, so much so that he was going to have the whole car re-sprayed.

This was the car when I turned up:

And at the end of a nine hour day:

If anyone would like further information regarding machine polishing please feel free to post a question.

Kindest Regards,

Kieran

The old urethane paints are pretty resiliant but they will fade and discolour if they are not given some sort of protection. A polish once or twice a year and good quality wax will go a long way in preserving the finish.

Excellent results M8. Good to see a Tipo again. Saw a poor old Sedicivalvole the other day that needs this kind of TLC.

No I shouldn't think it is. The guy has owned the car from new and never uses it, he say's he can't bare to part with it so I suppose it must carry sentimental value.

Sounds a fair price for a top job;)

Thank you sir, much appreciated.

Bridges, 2000 wet 'n' dry was used for a couple of scratches but the majority of the car just required 3M's Extra Fine Material Polish followed by the Ultrafina which wasn't really needed in this case but it makes for good practice.

Hi I am seriously interested in this car if the owner would consider selling it. Do you know if it had any dents or car park dings? Also do you have any contact details for the owner?

The car was clean, every panel was straight as a die.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't sell, he bought the car from new and loves it to pieces, plus it's not worth anything to anyone else but himself.

Any chance of having a word with him or passing on my interest?

I would be prepared to pay a good price for it.
