I haven't yet got my GPS but i'm looking at buying some cleaning products before it arrives. i use auto glym products at the moment and it is excellent stuff and quiete cheap aswell. just wondering if there is a certain way to washing a car to prevent swirls?

Hello, soory to answer you question with a question but i was just about to ask the exact same question. I pick my black GPS up on friday, my current car is black and after 5 years of ownership it look a bit sad. I turned down the £300 paint protection at motorpoint (cos I dont want sales men having my hard earned cash). Anyway, i am basically asking the same question except does anyone know of anywhere that does paint protection treatment for a decent price, or if not what is the best way to prolong my paintwork shine.

there are all sorts but dont work my car was supergaurded inside and out before i got £200 definately not worth it.cleaning product autoglym polish is great, but if you wax your car you cant get better and more user freindly than mcguireres nxt wax, gold class wax, stunning results.if i was getting a new gp try and get some sort of treatment that protects the front from stonechips the paint is thin and front is prone to stonechip badly(n)

so if i choose to carrry on using auto glym products what would be the best order/way to use them.

-Get a lambs wool wash mitt rather than a sponge to help prevent swirl marks.

-Wash sideways rather than in circles

-Use sealant/wax/gloss regularly to protect the paint

-Use microfibre cloths to dry

I often use 'poorboys' products, not the cheapest in the world but extremely good. check here www.detailedobsession.co.uk (y)

wtf? wash and wax? :yuck:

you can but the diamond brite off ebay for £15 mate. its very good stuff, the dealer gave me a bottle of stage 1 pre glaze and stage 2 glaze, and has created a fantastic finish. but worth saving yourself £285 and doing it yourself! :D

as for follow up, poorboys is wicked, as is clearkote. the detailed obsession website is a great one to buy from. :)

I use Autoglym products on the Fiat and Lotus.

Got some Lifeshine off eBay that is really good (equivilent to diamindbrite).

The pack had the fabric protector as well.

Use good shampoo, polymer waxes and quality clothes and you won't go far wrong.

ok so i have a bucket of clean water and a bucket of shampoo, i apply the shampoo with the wash mitt in straight lines rather than a circular motion, then rinse with the clean water?

ok i want to carry on using my autoglym products, what ones are best too use and in which order.
