Right so finally giving myself a kick in the ass and gonna get my Lancia Y10turbo back on the road..

Basically it's been in stood in my garage for pretty much 4years so am trying to make a list of things to check...

My intial plan is just to throw a battery on it check the brakes flush the fuel system change the oil and coolant and get it to the MOT centre just to see what it fails on...

Sound like a good plan?

Then once they have printed the fail sheets and found a folder big enough to hold them all lol

Fix all the neccesary parts...

Job done.......... yeah right

Then hopefully that's when the fun begins

Decent brakes- Punto gt front and rear
Lowered Suspension if I can source some still
Get the Carb rejeted to suit raised boost
Straight through exhaust system prob 2.5"
CDA induction kit
IHI turbocharger from an Uno
Strada 130TC wheels
Electronic boost controller

Check condition of all rubber hoses, if car has sat and the water drained these can perish quickly and make have cracks etc

As its old an Italian, remove and clean all earths and reattach as this should clear any faults on check panel and ensure all(hopefully) most (more likely) electrical items work.

Aaron.

4 years?! the pistons might have seized if the garage is damp. may i suggest takeing the plugs out and pouring in a very small amount of a very light oil. let sit over night so it can seap down piston walls/rings. remove the cam cover and cover cam lobes with oil. then manually turn the engine over. this will free any sticking parts and prevent mass amounts of ware due to a "dry start"

There is a trick to get the oil flowing around the engine, think maybe you remove the spark plugs then turn the key to 'start' the engine but without it actually starting. Maybe someone else can confirm that

Thats right Ben. Done in 10 second bursts with 30 seconds to cool off the starter motor. It removes the pressure of compression and combustion from the bearings while there is only boundary layer ( if that after 4 years) lubrication there.

Rampages advice of oil in the bores is essential. Dont over do it though, dont want a hydraulic lock on trying to start.
New oil and filter too. Ideally changed again a few hundred miles later.

4 years.... watch the wheel/master cylinders have not rusted and change the brake fluid.

Sorry to say, a lot can happen in 4 years in a damp garage.

Good luck:)

Cheers for all that it has been started in the last 4years though starts first time everytime

But yeah I will be put some oil in there (y)

Also yeah pretty sure the rear drums at least will of been siezed (n)

Aaron- The earths were all also renewed days before it came of the road so should be fine...

Also with regards to the garage it isn't really damp in there tbh especailly as a lot of it is wood which apparently helps to soak up most of the moisture :)
