The closer I look at me car it looks like it's been cleaned by a scourer at some time in the past, pretty much the whole car is covered in shockingly deep swirl marks! (n)

Does anyone have any good tips for removing them. I've got a tube of meguires Scrathc-X but it never seems to do anything.

Have I got any chance with a 12v buffer, or am I best off paying a professional to buf fit properly?

Get onto detailingworld, someone will help you out. A porter cable polisher is a good tool for removing swirl marks. Polishers on ebay etc or crap ones from halfords are not powerful enough to break done the polish.

go to washmy car.co.uk or somesuch, and get the german style two hardness red sponge/applicator, costs about £2 and works VERY Well with mequirs scratch x.

BTW scratch X is very very hard work, it WILL take you a whole day to do the car.

as for swirls, you add scratchs everytime you wash it, no matter how carefull you are(n)

Hope this helps everyone...Not to take everyone away from this site but the SEAT forum....A big site with loads of handy tips on this sort of thing...

www.polishedbliss.co.uk is great site to give you a full discription on how to clean your car to the max:slayer:

Havent tryed POORBOYS stuff but its next on my list once my mequires has run out...

Mequires is pretty good stuff...I have just aquired my bravo and the first thing i have done is use the mequires CLAY BAR. its comes with a polyetherene bar and detailing spray...excellent for getting grime off your car....you will be amazed at the results....i only polish a couple of times a year but spend more time waxing the car!!! mequires 'NEXT GENERATION TECH WAX'...with great results..
Just remember to polish the car and then final wax to protect the paint work....

Some people think you just polish the car and thats it but as the polished bliss web site will explain AFTER you polish the car you need to protect it!!!

Buy a cheap rotary polisher approx £30 from ebay, use a red (soft) polishing mop, and some £2 paint restorer polish and wax from Tesco. Polish the whole car, then apply some of the wax. Should look 10x better at no great expense. I wouldn't bother attempting to remove all the swirl marks, with a light polish it should reduce them signifcantly.

I disagree, a rotary in novice hands. You will risk damage to the paint.

I've never had any issues; if you use a soft pad you won't have any issues unless you're stupid. Sure slap a wool pad on and you'd better be careful. I also have a porter cable but find it more difficult to use than the rotary and not least being overpriced due to it being a US tool and requiring a transformer.

buffer + swirl pad + swirl remover cream = RESULTS...simple

try 'detailing world' website, i learned alot on there...(y)
