Hi, I use spray on engine degreaser on a cold engine and then rinse with cold water from a low pressure hose.
I cover the battery and put a plastic bag over the brake fluid container.

I then spray WD40 on the alloy engine parts and rub it with a cloth, in winter, to stop salt induced corrosion.
Regards

ooh fancy, didn't think about wd40 on the head and that. although I do on certain exterior/suspension componants, or simply lather in copper grease (never really comes off, lubes when it gets warm, keep it away from brakes, keeps bolts from seizing up when you have to change a susp arm in the depths of salty winter, big bolt's ill come right off(y)

as for theengine, tetra clean degrease (£3-5 a tin, lasts forever, unless it falls on its side and leaks most of it away on the floor:cry: ) and a brass/stiff metal brush for engine/g'box bits, and a fairly stiff 19p dish scrubber from wilko's.

hosepipe and sandwichbags+duck tape to rinse, followed by leaving bonnet open into the sun to dry out all the cracks and crannies
