As much as I love my Brave, the last couple of months it has been giving me hell.

So after fixing the valves and pistons after the cambelt gave issues, the car was running fine.

Then last night, I was on the freeway and put on my indicator to change lanes. As I hit the indicator switch, my Radio, ALL lights outside the car stopped working. All my gauges also stopped working. The gauges all light up on the instrument panel. The strange thing is reverse light worked as well. The car continued to run and I managed to get it back home.

Now it also does not want to start.

I have checked the battery and sitting at healthy 12.9V, checked all the fuses situated by the battery and all seems fine.

Any other suggestions as I am starting to get fed up now!

The -ve cable from battery to engine/gearbox and gearbox/engine to body.

They can corrode away under plastic insulation or fail at connections.

Does the starter turn the engine over?

If it doesn't i'd look at the ground cable.

Car turns over, and initially it started. But now it seems to struggle to start. One strange thing as well, OBD tool does not seemd to be able to connect. Possible that ECU decided to die?

The way the ground wire is designed and routed means that the starter motor may work fine but the -ve wire from gearbox to body could still be faulty-it happens quite often.

Do you see the Engine management light on the dash when you turn the key to acc/run??

If you don't that means the ECU isn't getting power or isn't grounded properly. It won't communicate

Nope nope.

So after some more investigation, there was a short which caused the UPS to get damaged and that is being repaired now.
The guy that is helping me said it seems like the guys who rebuilt the engine did not do the wiring properly and was most likely caused by them.
