Good day everyone. Greetings from South Africa.

I bought a 2008 Bravo 1.4 T-Jet for my son yesterday. The car drives very nice.
Error messages: (vehicle did not come with a handbook.)
ASR Disconnected
EBD Failure see handbook
ABS unavailable see handbook

But, (why is there always a but?) these are the error messages I cannot get to go away. I disconnected the battery for one hour to have everything go to factory settings, but it didn't help. Apart from this, the car is amazing. I searched on Google and this was what people did and seemed to work for them. Some also got it to go away why switch the car off and on a couple of times. Unfortunately this didn't help for me.
The seller told me this morning that the ABS might have been damaged when they replaced the break pads. Is this possible?

I do have a small diagnostic tool. Will it be possible to clear some of these errors?

Thanks for your help & patience.

Hi, No your small diagnostic tool won't read abs faults/ codes.

Disconnecting the battery these days does very little.

I hope you got a good deal buying the car with abs faults.

Take it to a garage/Good mechanic who can read the and fault codes and fix it.

Yes it is possible to damage an abs wire changing brake pads but the person doing the pad change would have to be very very clumsy and not know what they were doing, so get the brakes checked too.

Fingers crossed it will just need a wire repair or an abs sensor.

Let us know how it turns out.

Best wishes

Jack

Thanks Jack.
One last question ...
Are the error codes related?

Thanks again.

I had all of these fault messages. It was only the break pedal switch or what it is called. Check it out, don't cost anything.

Hi Deon and son :)

The car uses the brake light switch on the pedal to drive several safety systems

Body control uses braking of wheels to stabilise the car..
Abs also.. obviously

SEARCH 'brake switch' on here for more info

Charlie

Hi Charlie.
My son managed to remove the switch.
I tested it with my multimeter.
With the probes on two pins, not sure top or bottom, there was continuity. When depressing the switch, open line.
With the other two pins, it was just the opposite.

Can you please confirm if this is correct? I couldn't get information on how it is suppose to work. I assume that two are for brakes and two for cruise control, which our Bravo doesn't have.

Thanks again.
