Evening all. My 1.9 sport appears to have very dim yellow ish bulbs. The headlight units are clean and not damaged. Is it possible to just buy a better/brighter bulb or do I have to mod the car?

Many thanks

Dan

I've had a look online. Could you post me the link or maybe the product number for me to search for?

I've got a 1.9 multijet 150 if that helps?

Thanks
I fitted +150 Halfords bulbs to mine and it was appreciably better. Have done the same now to the pandas and bad lights are now tolerable, even in the wet. The higher u rate you do the shorter the bulb life though.

Just checked the packs and they are coded Halfords 472 H4 +50%

I have had brighter ones but found these did not last a winter.

I have been told by Halfords that if 1 bulb blows you need to replace both as the power spike may weaken the other bulb. Replacing one caused the second one to blow after a very short while and you get into a vicious circle! I certainly did with a VW Golf and it was a very expensive experience. I was eventually given a new pair of bulbs a a good will gesture.

I have found Halfords after sales and guarantees to be worth the extra cost of purchasing from them over an extended period. I don't trust Internet suppliers to sell what they claim as there are so many counterfeiters out there. And cheap counterfeit bulbs are worse than dangerous.

While the light from these bulbs is a significant improvement and makes night driving at least safe, they are still not what you would call great. The lights in our 169 Panda as good on standard and old bulbs.

I have taken to changing the quartz halogen bulbs every 3 years as they deteriorate over time / with use. I have had two cars where all four lights have failed over a 24 hour period and it was a real problem.

Just realised my last response was Panda part numbers. I will have another look in the morning and get you the correct reference. The Bravo has I think H7's i.e 4 bulbs to the Panda's two. Sorry about that

As far as I know, bravo is using H1. Had the same issue on my car. Reason for poor lights is usually the burned off chromium reflection coating in reflectors. The only way to fix this is to buy a new headlight units, or to have someone open up the unit and re chrome the coating.
