Afternoon all,

I’m a newbie and need help ASAP. Story so far. Car was driven through water. Stalled. Plugs removed, water sprayed out. Air filter saturated so replaced. No water in turbo, exhaust, or anywhere else I can see. Compression test passed fine. Correct fuel. I don’t seem to have any fuel pressure at the injector rail. Fuel pump comes on but not for long. It’s not on long enough to pass fuel from filter to rail? No crap in tank. Breather ok. Fuses and relays ok. No fuel inertia cutoff switch that I’m aware of. I know there’s a procedure to reset but no error codes. Does anyone have any further checks or ideas please? It’s been of the road 3 weeks now.

Regards

Wayne

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your reply. In response to your question, as far as I’m aware immobiliser working fine, always had. Not sure how I’d check it. With the Ignition turned on the fuel pump comes on for about 2 seconds. No where near enough fuel to fill filter it’s more just a little spit. It kinda looks conclusive that it’s fuel pump I guess. I’m based in Nottingham. I do have some basic scan tools and no error codes showing.

Regards

Wayne

Replaced the fuel tank fuel pump. Made no difference still won’t start. Double checked all relays and all tested ok. Out of ideas now :(

Sorry been a while. It did splutter with start spray. Since then I’ve removed and cleaned injectors, as they were bad. No change. Checked fuel rail pressure. Ok. Replaced cam and crank sensors. No change. Had Ecu professionally tested. Came back all in perfect running order. No fault codes and STILL won’t start.

Hi again.. thats weird..as everything should be dry by now.

MAF is an issue if wet.. (possibly damaged)

Another potential damage path

The crank sensor... if its nudged out of position.. or damaged.. injection wont occur properly..if at all

Your test with the squirt of spray tells you its lacking in fuel to the cylinders

Damaged crank sensor doesnt tend to throw a fault code either.. ;)

Good evening

been a long time responding to your advice. Since then the engines been out and totally stripped. Bent conrod had smashed into crank sensor reluctor wheel. Replaced everyhtnig and rebuild. Still wont start. Im hoping its just timing as its popping out of the inlet manifold when trying to start. I cant find the timing procedure anywhere for this engine. Can you help with that?
