New Fog lamp

Just fitted a new o/s fog light to the Bravo after a stone from the mower got the last one... I've been mowing this grass for 30 years and never had a problem before.

I got a DEPO lamp off ebay for 35 and am pleased to report though made in Taiwan it seems to be a very good fit and looks decent quality too. I have sealed the glass / body with automotive silicon as a precaution. New lamp has the 2 breather tubes so should be fine.

As to the designer who thought removing the bumper was OK to change a fog lamp bulb, words fail me. Whatever is wrong with inspection/access panels? Thankfully its a simple job. If you do venture there its easiest to remove the wheel arch liner and air cleaner to make access simple. If you do this, the big ear-shaped air intake is held in place by a philips screw on the top of the air box and the bracket it is held by is brittle - be warned. Fog lamp bulbs from Fiat come with a new bulb holder. At least the new Panda now has these for access to the rear bumper mounted lamps, so they are learning. Thank heavens we are now back in full working order!

Re: New Fog lamp

The lamps are held in by three small bolts. (10mm) You need to get the bumper out f the way to get access. There are some star / torx bolts that hold the top and bottom of the bumper. I think 4 on top that you can see when you open the bonnet and three under that hold the bumper tabs. You should not need to touch any hex head bolts or cross head screws under the bumper. In the front wheel arches there are three or four cross head screws up the edge of the bumper and one screw that holds the bumper to the front wing which is a bit difficult to get too with the wheel arch liner in place. The bumper can be grasped and pulled out to of side of the car on the affected side. You only need to undo the side where you want the lamp out. Once released you can access the three bolts that hold the light.and lift it out. You can see quite easily what needs to be removed and its basically a straightforward job as long as you use a screw driver that fits the screw heads cleanly. Start by getting the wing to bumper screw out the rest is easy. This is found where the corner of the bumper meets the front of the wing. Have a go!
