Hi

Bravo 1.4 petrol t jet

Issue , while driving loss of acceleration. Then car stopped and won't start, AA man checked fault codes and knock sensor came up but has not come up since taken into garage no fault codes , no clue did change spark plug

Things I've checked , fuel pump seems fine and fuel running to the injectors , injectors spraying, spark plugs are sparking but did notice petrol in 2 & 4, had a new battery and is charged , pressed fuel reset button by drivers door , check brake lights and pedal, checked fuses , checked air filter , check fuel

Engine sometimes will start for a split second then dies .... help!!!!

The problem is why did it die... did you do anything to it before?.. like putting in petrol, do you have LPG or anything else on it? any fancy alarms?

You need MES to have a look at various sensors values, to see pressures, and is things like the accelerator pedal and throttle position sensors are reading correctly.

If it sparks, and injectors spray, it should start.
The t-jets are a bit picky when it comes to petrol quality and are quite prone to flooding at start up.

I'd do the following :
-remove spark plugs turn the engine over a few times to evacuate any fuel in the cylinders.
-replace the fuel in the tank.

The starting for a second is typical of t-jet with old bad petrol.

They're also picky on spark plugs. They should be iridium tipped. (It should start with regular plugs though).

Hi , the car was filled up with £50 worth of fuel then left over night, drove 6 miles then it lost power

I brought a cheap gauge getting about 100 psi on

No fancy alarms or lpg

Today it decided to make a new noise sounds as if it's coming from the starter motor but still no fault codes

See vid for new noise that only started today after checking the compression, there is a second vid of the injectors and you can hear how the car was trying to kick over .. could it be the starter motor? [ame]https://youtu.be/eaSPZJqWSJU[/ame]

Bad news:
The engine lost compression on all cylinders... probably timing belt related (broken, jumped, tensioner problem...etc etc)

When was it done last km & time...any warranty ?

first step:
Take off the timing belt cover and have a look at it... see if it's there, if the cam gear spins with the crank pulley (i can see that spinning).

I did have the cam belt cover off before that noise , cam belt is in tact but I could not work out how it lined up I also could not find a car manual to help me? Can the belt slip and is this my likely cause for the whole issue - £25 for a new belt does not seem bad just how I tackle the job

You need tools to check timing:

View attachment timing.pdf

Basically with all pistons perfectly half way, first piston going down on intake stroke, the cam shafts should align with the cam positioning tools.

It's really clear, the engine doesn't have compression on any of the cylinders.
The engine spins to fast.

before you took that video ....You did put the spark plugs back right?

Take another video, show the crank and cam sprocket turning.

thank you for helping me and for the download of the timing link

i had the spark plugs in , i took them out again to double check , i hand cranked the belt and could not see the pistons move

i took this first vid of it cranking and noticed the wheel was slipping

then it completely gave up and just started to wiggled see next vid

is it just the timing or is its all up the creak

Looks like way to much wobble to be just the starter not engaging the ring.
But might be worth a try, pull the starter out have a look at the teeth on it, then take some photos of the flywheel teeth.

the other option the cranks is either broken, or just the key in the crank holding the lower timing sprocket.

if it's anything to do with the timing it's going to be very expensive, you'll have at least 4 bent valves... and who knows what other damage.

thanks for the info , i will need to try tackle this job at the weekend , the bottom pulley still moves by hand. if the second belt attached is slipping would it cause it to wobble or make it look to be wobbling
